Energy and Sustainability Information

The focus on cost reduction at Four Seasons is evident in the implementation of a variety of energy- saving strategies. The company has emerged as a leader in reducing energy use in cold storage facilities. Here is a summation of some of our accomplishments:

  • Four Seasons moved into a 25,000 sq ft warehouse in 1986 and moved into its current distribution center in 2004, which includes nearly 200,000 sq ft of cold storage space. It started new initiatives to improve energy efficiency and sustainability in 2006.
  • 1.5 million in annual kWh savings from 2006 to 2010
  • Annual electricity cost savings of more than $180,000, a 25% reduction, from 2005 to 2010
  • Avoidance of 6,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually
  • 1.6 million gallons in annual water use savings, a 24% reduction from 2007 to 2010
  • 88% waste diversion rate through recycling (as of 2009)
  • Elimination of more than 1.2 million truck fleet miles in 2007–2009 through routing and delivery improvements, a 21% reduction
  • 62% reduction in natural gas usage from our peak 12 month usage
