"Everyone is encouraged to think up creative ideas. A piece of advice I picked up a long time ago was to hire good people and turn them loose. Don't stifle them. I learned to delegate; to hire people better than me and let them blossom."
—David Hollinger, Founder.

Ben Riggs
VP Business Development and General Counsel

As the Vice President Business Development and General Counsel at Four Seasons, Ben Riggs firmly believes that work is fun. For Ben, there is a pervasive sense of ‘team’ that leads the company’s collective efforts through various projects. "Four Seasons has a great group of people that work hard at their jobs but have a lot of fun along the way," shares Ben. "At Four Seasons, we are not singularly focused on the transaction. If your sole focus is the cheapest price, call another produce distributor. Our focus is providing the value and service that assists our customers in the achievement of their goals. This approach has led to the development of numerous partnerships with customers over the last 30 years."

David L Hollinger
Chairman

David Hollinger has been in the produce industry most of his life, starting at a young age from growing and selling vegetables; to working at his parent's business, Hollinger's Farm Market; and to founding and growing Four Seasons Produce, Inc., which is now a leading company in the produce industry. He can trace his lifelong interest in fruits and vegetables to his own faith values and commitment to healthy living. When asked about his passion for the produce industry and he says, "What tastes better than a large red bing cherry, or what has an aroma better than a juicy tree ripened peach? Or, hearing the crisp sound of cutting open a red ripe watermelon? It's the simple goodness given to us by nature. Helping to get this mouthwatering goodness to your table is our business and it is an exciting and fast-paced industry."

Three noteworthy principles impacted David throughout his career: "If I can't do great things, I'll do small things in a great way." "Hire good, honest, hard working people and turn them loose." And, Philippians 2:4, "Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others. " All three are hallmarks of David's inspired leadership of Four Seasons and helped to shape and grow the company as he consistently demonstrated and applied these concepts.

Outside of Four Seasons, David has been involved in local and state politics serving in various roles. He currently serves on his church board, and he was instrumental in the establishment of Living Word Academy, a private, Christian, K-12 learning center located in Leola, PA. Additionally, he and his wife, Debbie, began The Hollinger Foundation, which they used to successfully establish children's homes for girls in India where orphaned girls are positively impacted with a caring family environment, supported by love, security, education, and training.

What keeps you enthused and engaged in the Four Seasons Family of Companies? The variety and challenges of this industry keep you always looking for ways to get better, whether that is serving a customer or solving a problem. As our company’s owner, David Hollinger, stated when I first interviewed here, "This business is constantly changing and fresh. Produce is colorful and exciting - it is different every year and each new season." I find it motivating to be part of a team that provides such a challenging product and a high level of service, while also striving to become the best!

In your opinion, why do you think a customer should do business with us? Why do current customers continue to do business with us?Four Seasons’ family of companies and the vast majority of our associates are strongly committed to serving our customers. I have observed this occurring not only when we address customers’ needs today, but when we work to create and offer them solutions for the future. In over twelve years with the company, I have seen many times that we made a specific decision to benefit a customer, acted promptly to solve a problem that arose, or took clear measures to build a customer’s confidence and trust. Despite the fact that we do fall short at times, this organization is clearly ‘customer focused’.
